Name: Sadie and Jay.
Brief Blurb: Sadie & Jay met at the BUG and soon after, their cleverly thought out band name was first chalked up for a blackboard spot at the BUG, which lead to their first gig at the BUG and as time rolled on together, they released all three of their albums.... at the BUG! In the winter of 2020 Sadie & Jay took a great leap across the ditch and began laying roots in the outskirts of Hamilton. So far they've hit the main stages of Wellington, Auckland & Hamilton Folk Festivals & have started the rounds of some of NZ's favourite acoustic venues. The BUG is at the very heart of Sadie & Jay's collaboration and on May 10th, the day they celebrate their joint (& one quite significant) birthday, they're making their first trip back home. There's nothing they'd rather do than play at their favourite Brisbane venue and reunite with a few of the SEQ folk family. Born in Scotland and raised in New Zealand, Jay grew up in the Penman family immersed in the tradition. With Welsh heritage, Sadie's love for singing and songwriting is instinctive. With outstanding reviews & a swag of awards their distinctive sound has been reaching far flung places from the Antipodes to the UK. Together, Sadie & Jay write exquisitely crafted songs blending glorious harmonies with intricate guitar, bouzouki and double bass.
