The BUgEtte
The BUgEtte’s West End run, which began in August 2025, wrapped up with its final outing at The End Bar on Thursday 9 April.
The BUg (Brisbane Unplugged Gugs) strongly supported the series, financially backing each event to ensure artists received a modest fee. However, attendance wasn’t sufficient to sustain the model, and the venue that provided the space determined it wasn’t viable to continue. Across its run, 18 artists were featured in 9 concerts: Ari Isabella Trio, Blue Stockings, CC & The Flames, Dead Song Society with Pipin, Echoes of Cirque, Eden King Trio, Gabriel Bishop, Georgie Neilsen, Georgie Taylor Band, Jack Meimaris & Friends, Jo Davie Trio, Kay Proudlove, Pipin, Rosa Mack, Ruby Gilbert, Sixth of The Sun, Stafford & Woods, Wattmore.
The good news was that the Dead Song Society — which opened each of these nights in 2026 — will continue somewhere! Hosted by Bec Hoole (aka Pipin), it was a bold community-singing project celebrating creativity, connection and a touch of joyful rebellion. It brought people together to sing songs, embrace their inner mischief-maker, and experience the simple thrill of voices raised in harmony.
And while The BUgEtte has wrapped up for now, it may well reappear down the track, somewhere...
