Name: Angela Toohey.
Brief Blurb: Angela Toohey’s debut CD No Ordinary Girl was an inevitable manifestation. Having always written songs, but rarely sharing them with the public, Angela chose a life in theatre and musical theatre for 20 years. She is best known for her role as Liza Minnelli in The Boy from Oz, playing opposite Todd McKenny in 1998-99 and Hugh Jackman in 2006. “Today, my focus is on my music, having finally embraced the power and joy of sharing it,” she said. “I have been in many big and small theatre productions, but nothing compares to sharing my own stories through music. I feel a tangible connection with the incredible souls who generously show up to listen. Songwriting has been an amazing outlet for me – a mirror, a magnifying glass, a time machine, an incredible healer, and a friend. Performing my songs has led me to the most wonderful people.” Angela’s music is contemporary folk, acoustic guitar-driven, lyrical and melodic. It is often written from the perspective of an observer of her life, who sees the big picture and encourages her to keep moving. Her music is inspiring, uplifting, fun, honest, hooky, energy-packed and edgy. Her song, Rise, will send shivers along your spine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2nYGXfKLos
