Name: Regarding Ruby.
Brief Blurb: Local Brisbane songstress Michelle Phillips-Lopez & guitar whisperer Kevin Roadley-Brooker unite in Regarding Ruby to capture the quintessential beauty that is jazz! Michelle’s whimsical vocal charm finds its perfect compliment in Kevin’s melodic & emotive strings – a pairing that began after studying music together in 2005. Their repertoire spans from jazz standards to Latin, blues & contemporary tunes, & includes a number of originals. As a duo, Regarding Ruby bring to life a sound that frees the listener from whatever ails them: ‘Their music cuts through all the hustle & haste, all the grime of the day…. you just sit back, watch the dust settle, & let the melody just wrap around you…’ (Jodie Cameron). Kevin & Michelle have also played in various other musical combos around Brisbane over the past six years, with Michelle continuing her longstanding duo with bassist/vocalist Tina Fullerton in Chi’ca-Chi’ca, bringing piano & vocals to the mix.
