Name: Luna Junction.
Brief Blurb:

A playful approach to musical exploration has led this dynamic, all-singing Brisbane group to a distinct, original sound. An eclectic extravaganza of Gypsy, Folk, World and Jazz, incorporating brass, double-bass, flutes, percussion, violin and more... Luna Junction can be found at the heart of West End’s burgeoning ‘Gypsy-Folk’ scene, playfully juggling musical genres, instruments and influences to weave a colourful tapestry of traditional and original music. With an album in the pipeline and a string of gigs booked up and down the coast after their success at Byron Blues festival busking comp earlier this year, this wraggle-taggle bunch of buskers have taken time out from the streets of Brisbane to record their much anticipated debut. Set for release later this year, the band is also making plans for an album launch tour via Sydney and Melbourne. Still frequenting the West End markets to get their weekly dose of family entertaining, 2011 has seen Luna Junction perform at various Brisbane venues and festivals including Winter Solstice, Fete De La Musique, Friends of Folk and Southbank’s Buddha Birthday celebration. For the past two years singer-songwriter Shani Forrester has been busking and ‘jamming’ with various travellers and locals in Brisbane’s cafes, backyards, bars and marketplaces, developing a strong following and building a unique repertoire, whilst searching for her perfect musical companions. Shani Forrester on Guitar, Trumpet, Clarinet, Irish Flute and Whistles; Calum Holland on Double-Bass, Guitar, Irish-Bazouki and Harmonies; Alex Chetter on Harmonies, Keys, Ukulele, Flute, Guitar (and anything she can get her hands on); Marley Beaven on Guitar and Ukelele; Jaymee Watkin on Drum-kit, Cajon and Bongos; Richard Ferrari on Trombone and Euphonium; Gabriele Cavazza on Trumpet and Darbuka; Alice McDowell on Violin and Bodhran
