Name: John Malcolm
Brief Blurb: John was inspired at age 11 to learn guitar so he could join in campfire sessions at Torquay Beach Victoria, and was soon strumming along to the likes of "Down By the Riverside"

At 14 he sang the anti-war song "Strangest Dream" on TV.

When in the same year he submitted an original essay on Folk Music, his teacher said he must have copied it from a book. He was a regular attendee and occasional performer at Melbourne Folk Clubs in the 60's, pulling influences from live performances of Irish music and traditional Australian songs, and later from Flamenco and the various music of Africa.

Now after over half a century of guitar playing, including some 35 years as a full-time musician, John's spot at The Bug is a celebration of his Folk Music roots, and will be quite different to his usual pub performances.

"Think of me as a folk musician whose "job" also happens to be music."
