Name: Taraf Tambal
Brief Blurb: Taraf Tambal play lively dance tunes and mournful shepherd\'s songs from Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Macedonia. At the heart of the group is the Romanian hammer dulcimer or \"Tambal\" played by Will Eager. Mike Patterson on violin, Sam Vincent on double bass and Phillip Griffin on oud and guitar round out a band of masterful muses. The group\'s repertoire is partly original and partly drawn from traditional folk music of the Balkan countries. Collectively and individually they have performed at WOMAD, The Woodford Folk Festival, The National Folk Festival, The Big Day Out, The Stradbroke Chamber Music Festival, The Romanian Wine Festival, The Mullumbimby Multicultural Festival to name just a few venues. All four performers are highly active musicians in Brisbane, performing in diverse groups such as Gosti, Estampa, East of West, The QLD Symphony Orchestra, Camerata QLDs Chamber Orchestra and Tyrone and Lesley.
