Name: Choro Brisbane
Brief Blurb: Ricardo Bona, amazing solo accordionist and with Brisbane band Mzaza, leads a group of 5 playing Brazil's traditional music 'Choro'. Choro (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈʃoɾu], "cry" or "lament"), also popularly called chorinho ("little cry" or "little lament"), is an instrumental Brazilian popular music genre which originated in 19th century Rio de Janeiro. Despite its name, the music often has a fast and happy rhythm. The group's instrumentation includes guitar, cavaco (a small chordophone with four strings), pandeiro (hand frame drum), flaute (flute) and accordion.

(p>Ricardo Bona is an accordionist, music teacher, composer, and a graduate of the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. Ricardo's musical initiation was through a type of Brazilian country music (known as musica caipira) and the viola was his first instrument. Some friends decided to start a forro band, yet no one could play the accordion. It was here that Ricardo met his ultimate challenge! Using an accordion he borrowed from a nun, Ricardo began his journey on what would become the passion of his life.
