Name: Megan Cooper
Brief Blurb:

Megan Cooper’s music is folksy, vintage, alt country… the sonic equivalent of a fragrant cup of tea with a sneaky shot of something a little stronger. She’s a hip shaking wicked whistler, who’s dodgy ankles brought her back to the music of her upbringing,

With addictive melodies and extraordinary tales of common hearts, Cooper’s been earning praise since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, Ghosts, Choirs & Kings in 2014 which featured the songs ‘Virginia Fall’, ‘Texas’ and ‘27 Degrees’.

Her new album Wild Mountain, produced by Michael Muchow and released late 2018, featuring the single Running with Ghosts confirms that Cooper has an inbuilt affinity with everything that is good in twang.

Ever the passionate songwriter, all her stories are founded around Cooper’s home in South East Queensland. She consistently delivers an optimistic, elegant serving of aural sweetness that is rooted in the traditions of Americana and Australian Folk.

With a little help from her band The Pretty Pennies, Cooper has won hearts at festivals such as the Gympie Muster, Woodford Folk Festival, Brisbane Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival including headlining Americana in the Park, toured extensively both here and in America, and shared bills with peers including Fanny Lumsden, Harry Hookey, Brad Butcher and Greg Storer. She is also a featured artist on Sean Sennett’s latest compilation “I left my heart in Highgate Hill”.
