Name: Lachlan Hawkins
Brief Blurb:

Lachlan Hawkins is a freelance drummer, handpan artist and educator, with a diverse performance career to date across the areas of jazz and improvised music, musical theatre, corporate entertainment and contemporary music.

In 2014, Lachlan was selected as one of six national finalists in the James Morrison Scholarship, and since then, has been fortunate to work with some of Australia’s most accomplished musicians and ensembles including James Morrison, Steve Newcomb, John Hoffman, Kristin Berardi, Elly Hoyt, Melissa Western, Jordan Brodie and The View from Madeleine’s Couch as well as regular performances nationally with his corporate drumming group "SoundStruck".

Lachlan is very excited to launch his highly-anticipated first studio album, "No Enemy Within", which sees him move away from the drums to explore a new path of songwriting centered around the meditative sounds of the 'handpan'. The album, in collaboration with renowned Brisbane producer Steve Thornely, explores themes of family, self-acceptance and loss, and features the handpan and voice together with some of Australia’s finest young musicians.

This concert will feature Lachlan's handpan music in more of an intimate setting together with longtime musical collaborator, Sophie Min (piano).
