Name: Luan Baldwin
Brief Blurb: Profile of LUAN BALDWIN - Australian Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist

Performances Luan is a uniquely Australian story-teller who writes from his experiences in life, love, loss and years spent at sea. He is an accomplished songwriter and his diverse musical background and experience is the reason why his original repertoire encompasses a range of styles including blues, country, folk and rock. He also delivers live and unique acoustic versions of popular songs. Whether performing solo or together with his friends and family, Luan always offers something new, original and genuine each time he takes the stage. Luan has been performing regularly from the Capricorn Coast and Wide Bay Coast to south-east Qld with recent performances at Hervey Bay, Maleny and Neurum Creek festivals. He now gigs regularly throughout the northern suburbs of Brisbane and the West End.

History Since childhood, Luan has been singing and writing songs; a need that has continued into adulthood. Luan relocated to Brisbane in 1994 to study Bachelor of Music- Performance at QUT Kelvin Grove. He majored in classical guitar and had performed extensively through his teens and early twenties before settling into a career in the maritime industry. His years living and working offshore have inspired him to write a series of modern day ‘sea songs’ which have now become his trademark. A number of these songs have been recorded on his albums “Tales from Port Curtis” (2006) and “Half Tide” (2017).

“Tales from Port Curtis” “Tales from Port Curtis” is an album of 12 original tracks inspired by modern day life at sea (kind of like 21st Century ‘sea shanties’). The tracks are solo performances and not digitally enhanced so the songs retain their raw, earthy qualities. Songs from the album were featured in the 2009 “Q Song” songwriting competition sponsored by ABC Radio and also released on US College Radio compilation “ACOUSTIKA Volume 18” (272 Records). “Tales from Port Cutis” is available through contacting Luan at his website- www.luanbaldwin.com.

“Lu is a master of observation and has the creative ability to express his experiences in song. If I feel my spirits need a lift this is the CD I put on. Just buy it and you will be as rapt as I am.” MaryB- FolkRag 2009

NEW ALBUM “Half Tide” out now!

His recent release is a collection of revisited sea songs combined with original lyrical tracks inspired by life, family and country. Produced by Rob Mackay at Pacific International Music, this album highlights Luan’s natural storytelling through music while featuring his seemingly effortless guitar skills. ‘Album of the Week’ on ABC Radio- Wide Bay 100.1FM September 2017, tracks from “Half Tide” are now available through iTunes/Spotify or the CD can be purchased through www.luanbaldwin.com.
