Name: The Elderly Brothers
Brief Blurb: In the tradition of early brothers-harmony duos (Louvin Brothers, Delmore Brothers, Blue Sky Boys, Bill and Charlie Monroe) the Elderly Brothers present bluegrass and early country duets celebrating the close harmonies that characterized these ground-breaking styles. The Brothers are Ian “Ziggy” Tredinnick and John Holmberg, two veterans of the Oz and American music scenes. Ziggy was involved in the very-early Sydney bluegrass scene starting in the 60s with his older brother and played in subsequent bluegrass bands with such luminaries as John Kane (mandolin) and Chris Duffy (banjo) in the 70s and 80s. He is known for his high tenor singing and fine guitar playing. John was a long-time member of Pirate Brides and plays mandolin and clawhammer banjo. The two washed up near each other on the shores of the northern Sunshine Coast with some time on their hands (when they are not sailing on South Passage, Queensland’s sail-training ship) and have enjoyed delving into this rich, evocative repertoire.
