Name: Sam Shepherd
Brief Blurb: Sam started playing guitar at the ripe old age of 5. He spent the next several years playing guitar and singing at various markets. Years spent busking enabled him to hone his craft and save for his first handmade guitar.

In 2005 Sam won the ‘National young jazz/blues guitarist of the year’ award at Frankston international guitar festival. Since then he has worked and performed with some of the best musicians in the country. Artists such as: Diesel (Aussie rock legend) Peter Cupples (Stylus, Peter Cupples Band), Michael Fix (internationally recognised guitar virtuoso), Danny Mayers (Lead singer of ‘The Delltones’), Bruce Mathiske (well know Australian guitar legend), Ian Perez (Wolfmother), Louie Shelton (The Jackson 5, The Monkees, John Lennon, Whitney Houston)

Sam has performed and delivered clinics at the following festivals: The National Folk Festival, The Maleny Street Carnival, The Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival, The Redlands Folk Music Festival, The Grafton Arts Festival, The Maleny Music Weekend, The Tamworth Counrty Music Festival, The Redlands Bluegrass Festival, The Maleny Apsara Festival, The Redlands Spring Festival, The Gold Coast’s Parks Alive Festival and more.

In 2013 Sam was also the opening act for 'Diesel' on the Sunshine Coast.

In early 2014 Sam made it to the finals of Lee Ritenour's 'Six String Theory' guitar competitions. It's one of the biggest guitar competitions in the world with thousands of entries from 48 different countries. Sam was the only Australian to make the finals.

In early 2015 Sam was awarded a scholarship to attend the 'Australian Academy of Country Music' in Tamworth.

Sam is currently living in the Sunshine Coasts beautiful Hinterlands. He is enjoying the peaceful mountain atmosphere while recording a new album.
