Name: The Acfields
Brief Blurb: Bound by two distinct voices that have obviously spent many a childhood car trip harmonizing with each other, sibling songsters Dan and Hannah Acfield have been aptly described as “the ying to each other’s yang” (Scene Magazine, 2012).

Despite living in separate cities (Brisbane and Melbourne, respectively), the pair have left their previous solo careers behind and created a colourful blend of folk-pop and alt-country as ‘The Acfields’. Bolstered by beautiful sibling harmonies, The Acfields' collaboration has in turn been rewarded with groundswell and national acclaim.

With music in their blood, it was hardly surprising that not one, but two Acfields would choose to pursue a living making music. Their grandfather Ron Acfield had certainly paved the way for them as a prominent bass player who performed with acts like Cat Stevens, Louis Armstrong and other numerous Australian and international acts. So, shortly after leaving school, Dan and Hannah were drawn on a musical pilgrimage from their hometown of Rockhampton to Brisbane, where for several years they both pursued musical educations and separate musical projects.

By the time any thoughts of collaboration were entertained, Dan and Hannah were not only worthy of a fine montage, they had also become accomplished songwriters and performers in their own right. Between them, Dan and Hannah had already released five solo EPs and toured both nationally and internationally. Hannah was described by Gotye to have “an expressive voice that engages you instantly”, and was nominated as a MusicOz finalist three years in a row, while Dan’s song ‘Red, Yellow and Blue’ was deemed by Triple J’s Alex Dyson to be “one excellent tune”, and earned him the spot of ‘Indie Act of the week’ on Rage.

The Acfields have attained widespread music media acclaim, as well as support from national and community radio, including a spot in the 4ZzZ hottest 100. They have embarked on multiple national tours and supported acts such as Joan Armatrading, Josh Pyke, The Trouble With Templeton, Lakyn Heperi and Vika & Linda Bull.
