Name: Alan Kelly and Steve Cook
Brief Blurb: Kelly and Cook have been performing with the Barleyshakes for many years. As a duo they go to an evocative landscape filled with Celtic joy and misery. Born in Dublin, Alan Kelly is the driving force behind Celtic folk rock quintet the Barleyshakes. Alan’s songwriting and singing have won him several awards including Best World Music Song at the Q Music Awards in 2011 for ‘The Green and the Blue’. His DADGAD guitar style is explosive, melodic and shows off his deep understanding for his native music. Also a keen bodhran player, he recorded as a soloist on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Steve Cook is a well known musician on the local scene and also a part of the Barleyshakes collective. He’ll be giving the fiddle, mandolin and banjo a good seeing to.
