Name: | Bridget O'Donoghue and Ewan MacKenzie | Brief Blurb: | Bridget emigrated to Australia aged 3 with her parents who were both principal singers with the Doyle Carte Opera company. She was introduced to jazz and R&B at an early age through her father who was one of Sydney's jazz elite, playing the famous Romanos and the original Basement. By age 15 Bridget was an integral part of the Sydney studio scene and soon became one of Sydney and Melbourne's top session singers, being the voice behind Coke and Levis ads, and appearing on many albums ranging from Julie Anthony to the Angels. Bridget was the voice of the popular Sydney R&B outfit 'FatTime' and consequently toured nationally with Carlos Santana and Joe Cocker. Her performances spanned across to theatre, playing in the original 'Jesus Christ Superstar', the black musical 'The Wiz', and in 'The Aunty Jack Show', live with her brother Rory. Since moving to Brisbane in 1989, Bridget has worked in the studio session scene doing commercials and promotions for Toyota, Coca-Cola and the Queensland tourist commission to name a few. Her smoky, soulful voice has been highly acclaimed and sought after in many areas of the entertainment industry.
Ewan MacKenzie has played many styles in his musical career: rock, country rock (he won best instrumentalist in Tamworth in 1977), jazz, blues - everything but Celtic music :-). He has been a songwriter; an album producer; a session guitarist; a bar singer/guitarist; a jazz/blues singer/guitarist - his album Turquoise was Qld Album of the Year in 1995, and the CD he recorded with mate Robbie Stewart, A Patch of Blue, was Best Qld R&B Album in 2001. He has spent his life flitting between acoustic and electric playing and in 2003 he discovered the music of Django Reinhardt, to which he has devoted himself since. He has released 20 odd albums in over 40 years as a musician. | Website: |
